Motion Graphics

Below are samples of some of my favorite motion graphic projects I’ve had the opportunity to produce. Ranging from character rigging, to text and icon animations, I strive to create eye catching motion while also translating complex ideas into compelling content.

This project was part of a larger campaign for CastleBranch, a software compliance company. This animated video uses a human story to describe the complex problem and solution for hiring incoming clinical graduates. As a member of the marketing team, I was responsible for helping write the script, hiring talent, and designing the overall video components, with 2D characters that were implemented across other marketing assets.

While a member of the CastleBranch marketing team, I collaborated with graphic designers to give the FutureFocus assets a new look and feel, separate from the CB brand. This video was one of five that was produced for social media publishing, which also included center cut versions for mobile screen optimization.

Working with the marketing team at PPD, I was responsible for storyboarding, animation, and audio editing. My focus was to seamlessly blend one set of animations to another, creating a fluid story that is engaging for the viewer. A priority of the video was to ensure compliance with PPD’s brand standards so that it complimented other marketing assets.

Working with the marketing team from Lower Cape Fear Life Care, and basing it on a concept video developed by the Center to Advance Palliative Care for GetPalliativeCare.org, we reimagined the video as an engaging and colorful animation. I was responsible for taking their script and creating storyboards, animating the graphics, and designing the audio.

This project was created as a member of CastleBranch’s Communications team. I worked closely with writers and designers to establish a look and feel while utilizing animation principles for the overall flow of graphics and video. The target demographic for this launch was clinical HR departments.

As a team member for Tayloe/Gray, a Wilmington NC based ad agency, I worked with our copywriter and creative director, animating the brand visuals and creating the sound design. The agency was rebranding and our goal was to create an engaging social media video that captured the attitude of being experts in awesome.

This project was one of my first as a member of CastleBranch. My goal was to give subtle motion to the stock photos using a 2.5D technique, while giving character to the brand icons.

These style boards were from the Expedition 100 project from the School of Motion Design for Animation Bootcamp.

The brief: In the same vein as Expedition 44, we’re working on a show for a future mission to Mars. The show is called Expedition 100: Mission to Mars. We’re looking for some Style Frames and (eventually) Design Boards. We want a treatment on the footage as well as design for all GFX.

As part of the assignment, I had to gather inspiration from various sci-fi imagery (some samples included mood/look reference), find stock photography, visual effect assets and typography. One of my inspiration pieces was a blend of the pink/red and purple which I utilized throughout the storyboards.

This set of storyboards was for the Rio Rumble project from School of Motion.

The brief: Fox is launching a new show called Urban Freestyle: Tokyo Throwdown. The show is a Dance-Competition that takes place in Tokyo, Japan. Teams of break dancers compete each week on the streets of Tokyo in head-to head dance battles. We are looking for a Show Open design, as well as a Title Design for the show. These boards must show us how you’ll treat green-screened footage of the dancers, how you’ll ID the names of the Dance Teams, what the Title will look like, and how you will incorporate the Fox logo into the design.

My creative instinct was to combine elements of Japanese iconography, a gritty street style look, with suggested motion and depth utilizing implied layering and 3D camera motion along with brush strokes to simulate the Sumi-e style of painting.
